The dissertation regarding the MACD is very descriptive, indicating its purpose, usages, calculations, etc. The usage and understanding of such should be second nature to the trader. It is refered to as a lagging indicator, due to its hesitation in its engendering the trend. One can maybe trade the beginnings of a trend, then have it confirmed by the initial MACD 2 lined crossover; hence, confirming the trend: but, do not forsake the needed stops and precautions. Thank you.

Correction...if ... By: ReggaeSunset. on 15 Aug 09, 03:25:18 Correction...if you're renting for $2000/month you should get a house only if the maximum payments are $1500. There are costs associated with homeowning that aren't calculated into the mortgage. This is where people screw up; don't buy a house when the mortgage is the same as rent. I purchased a home in a price-range that after an OVER estimate of any/all possible extra expenses it STILL came out to less than the rent in my area. That's when it's a smart buy.

By: sabledavenport. on 30 Mar 09, 10:33:19 I think you are right about renting vs. buying but people will still prefer buying because of the feeling that the home is there's, being able to remodel their home as they please, it's the freedom you have with buying a home vs. renting that is more appealing & maybe to most worth the extra money out of pocket. By: Todithicus. on 06 Dec 08, 20:03:55 I think the issue here is not whether Coldplay intended to rip off the song (it's very unlikely), but whether the final result, regardless of its origins, is a copyright infringement of the original Satch piece. I still think the melody is not similar enough for Satrinai to win this case, but it certainly will be interesting to see how this develops.

It is amazing how ... By: broadcaster1star. on 14 Feb 10, 18:35:17 It is amazing how much TA draws from other perspectives; as the 'strengthening of the ego' in classical psychoanalysis has parellels to striving toward being an 'adult' and as, the 'here and now approach' is quite reminiscent of the Gestalt 'live in the moment' idea. It heavily draws on humanistic carl rogers kind of approach in the equality and the value of the adults. It even draws from Object Relations(!) one could say trough the concept of 'undigested emotions' and child-parent interaction!

TA presents the ... By: TheraminTrees. on 17 Jan 10, 14:15:06 TA presents the Adult as the most aware ? with Child and Parent stuck in fixed strategies, based on childhood strategies and parental figures. Adult, existing spontaneously in the moment, is not so confined, and so able to perceive new, insightful and adaptive strategies. Strengthening Adult is therefore valued in TA. As I noted, an Adult/Adult lecturer/student model is possible ? and to me, the most desirable one ? though I tend to avoid the Parent-feeling word 'should'.
I would suppose ... By: Skierkowa. on 17 Jan 10, 08:32:36 I would suppose there are various situations in which the parent-child dynamic can be less disruptive than in others, or where it forms easily, but at the risk of sounding glib, I would tend to assume that the adult-adult dynamic is nearly always preferable.
In the case of the student and professor, the student's goal should be to appreciate and "own" the information for themselves, taking responsibility for their own understanding. It seems that the parent-child dynamic could undermine this.
I guess what comes ... By: TheraminTrees. on 16 Jan 10, 14:58:51 I guess what comes to mind here are various factors and possible scenarios. We can imagine a lecturer/student as having a Parent/Child relationship ? student 'submitting' to the lecturer ? or we can imagine an Adult/Adult relationship, where the lecturer 'shares information' with the student in a format necessary for the passing of exams. I have objections to statism on many grounds. But it would be interesting to see what level of power-sharing/Adult consent could achieved.

You are only going to profit if you sell, otherwise it's paper wealth. This is a suckers rally that is going to come to an end. The fundamentals are terrible. There are companies whose stock is growing by leaps and bounds while their business is falling apart. Day trading can be very lucrative especially with leverage but relatively few do well over time.
Guesswork ? This is ... By: aharnam. on 29 Sep 09, 17:28:25 Guesswork ? This is no roulette game, the same scenario that you explained has been so for decades, there are cycles. Hoping for the best is good thing, if you are preparing for the worst. Take a look at 1929/1930. You will find the market initially rallied 50% in 6 months and then made a new low. We bottomed out 6 months ago. There are many people expecting major problems in Oct, I sincerely hope they are wrong. Not a good time to be past peak oil production.

Citizens and Businesses alike are loaded down with debt, UE is high, wages are falling and the gov is printing money as the solution. We are in a bear market rally that is going to come to an end and make new lows. We are facing high energy prices that are going to go through the roof with possible shortages in the US. Bad times are ahead.

Firstly, thank you for these videos! They are great.
I have a question. It's a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string question' but I'll ask anyway!
If I started a Mini account with £5000 (I'm UK) and was dealing £10,000 lots, could I feasibly make 5 winning trades per day, each one making 20 pips, thus taking a profit of £100 on a regular daily basis? Is this wishful thinking? Would it take along time to be this good or is it well within the realms of possibility?
Thanks again.

The basic idea is ... By: jestertru. on 12 Jul 09, 15:22:17 The basic idea is that the specific units of measure aren't as important as the mathematical relationships between the variables. The result is that there are only 5 fundamental variables for any physical law (at least in Newtonian mechanics) and everything else is math. This allows similar phenomena to be compared by simple scaling relationships (which is how the bomb size was estimated from declassified data in the magazine photo). @robag88: The ... By: BimLanders. on 25 Feb 10, 22:37:33 @robag88: The helicopter shadow isn't actually a continuity error; it is 'mistake' not relating to continuity. But honestly, what reason would Kubrick have for leaving that in? I feel that deserves at least some analysis. Anyways, that was just my interpretation of it. I just felt that there was evidence that the tennis ball idea was Jack's, and that's all I was stating. I'm glad you enjoy this film enough to study it so deeply, and I appreciate that. The Shining is my favorite film.
He made another ... By: robag88. on 23 Feb 10, 07:41:09 He made another blatant helicopter "mistake" in Full Metal Jacket. We see a shot from a helicopter in which the shadow bounces over some trees but it's blatantly a diff type of helicopter. You could say that's kubrick reminding us not to take a film too seriously, but I would state that as over-analysis because deliberate continuity errors can be done for many reasons. Re: the tennis ball. It's usage in several scenes is clearly linked with axe swinging (Halloran death and twins death)
Kubrick also liked ... By: BimLanders. on 18 Feb 10, 22:50:42 Kubrick also liked to play with the audience, and walked the fine line between higher art and pure film entertainment. His symbolism is at times undeniable, but the citation of the tennis ball strikes me as over-analysis. One shot I love is in the opening when you can clearly see the shadow of the helicopter filming the overhead shot. Kubrick had to be aware of this "mistake," so one might point to that in considering that Kubrick was reminding the audience not to take every frame so seriously.
So legend has it. ... By: robag88. on 18 Feb 10, 21:41:59 So legend has it. Even if Jack did come up with the idea Kubrick wouldn't have gone with it for no reason. Jack could have sparked him off in using the tennis ball symbolically. I've had similar things happen on my own film productions.

Another Kubrick ... By: wittsdream. on 25 Jan 10, 22:58:13 Another Kubrick ellipsis, from one of his earlier films (Dr. Strangelove), occurs early in the The Shining during "the interview." Ullman bears a striking physical resemblance to Gen. Ripper (Hayden) also seated behind an officious desk, and in one very brief reverse shot, there is even a big fat "Red Book" curiously turned slightly on Ullman's desk, appearing directly below Bill Watson as he stands up. The juxtaposition of this book to the American flag behind Ullman is interesting.
The Freud reference ... By: wittsdream. on 25 Jan 10, 22:34:02 The Freud reference to "big business" comes from a BBC documentary directed by Adam Curtis called "The Century of the Self." It's a must-see, and available to view on either Google Video or YouTube. In reality, Freud's "ideas" were co-opted by his nephew - Edward Bernays - the progenitor of "public relations" and its psychoanalytic uses by big business (and later government) for the sole purpose of manipulating people's minds into consuming needlessly. "TCotS" is the original "Mad Men."

By: dfgregg100. on 19 Jan 10, 05:30:19 Rob, one thing that continues to puzzle me is Mr. Ullman's cryptic remark about how Jack came highly recommended by his people in Denver. Jack and his family lived in Boulder for a period of what? Three Months? So Jack has no time to build a good local reputation. Not to mention that he may have had to move from Vermont because of his drinking and his abusive nature - as a school teacher. Why do the Denver people recommend him so highly? In the movie, his job title clearly says Stuart Ullman but in Stephen King's mini-series, he is simply referred to as Ullman. Is the name Stuart mentioned in the novel. If not, it clearly is a semiotic reference to the Stuart dynasty, which mainly heralded in the colonial development of America. He descrives in clear detail the simillar type of contract given to early colonists.

- During the tracking shot where there is a man with a mop, he could be the voice of Kubrick as he is mopping repeatedly and firmly on a linewhich marks the line of symmetry on the diamond floor pattern.

Colt kinda has a ... By: AceofDlamonds. on 09 Mar 10, 22:31:59 Colt kinda has a hard time trying to get what I'm saying.....the way the plot flows needs to be taken into account....conclusion are more readily drawn from what we experience after seeing the entire film. I mean I agree with this Rob Ager on many theories, but some I believe are largely questionable. Carpenter designed this film not to provide "endless" possibilities, there are SUGGESTED anwers if the film is analyzed carefully, like Palmer standing out of his room and the dog earlier.
It does seem to ... By: AceofDlamonds. on 09 Mar 10, 22:26:47 It does seem to imply that, it's so subtle but the point is so OUT there.....it's a masterpiece of a film really.
I think given the ... By: AceofDlamonds. on 09 Mar 10, 22:25:17 I think given the way the plot flows, the shadow provides a reasonable path to conclusion. Given that Palmer is seen out of his room and the same hall area where the dog enters, there's conclusive evidence that Palmer was in fact, the shadow. I mean there's wild theories about Blair, and Fuchs even, but they don't stand out because Carpenter chose Dick Warlock, the stunt coordinator, as the shadow because he "resembled Norris and Palmer". So it's only reasonable to narrow to those two.
Colt, you mustn't ... By: zz898zzz2. on 09 Mar 10, 22:19:56 Colt, you mustn't get too technical when it comes to the PLOT of a story.....
When you have a cold or herpes, you have a infectious virus, extremely simple, that does transmit by saliva. In this case, Palmer would be an entire organism....adapting at this moment. If he didn't need to infect and make everyone alerted, which is the least he'll do, he didn't have to. The dog didn't have to infect Clark, or bennings.....or whatever. What guarantee is there that slow infection won't cause symptoms?
I agree that the ... By: KaitainCPS. on 06 Mar 10, 06:06:52 I agree that the film seems to be signaling. And yet it also has a pattern of wrong-footing red herring signals. The film tells you that Clarke is preparing to attack Mac with a knife, and that Mac is therefore in danger: something we can see but he cannot. And yet five seconds later, the knife is of no relevance: the true danger was from the prostrate Norris. We are led to believe - and Mac says explicitly - that Garry is the only one who could have got to the blood samples. Yet Garry is human.

By: Colt2571. on 06 Mar 10, 02:47:04 i dont think its an ambiguous moment because we know the dog is infected...the dog is infected, it enters the room where clearly someone is sitting, fade out...that is an obvious CINEMATIC inference of infection. I dont see any reason to believe it would be anything else...not to argue, but thats how i feel.
My take:
One ... By: KaitainCPS. on 06 Mar 10, 01:30:33 My take:
One shouldn't assume that whoever's shadow it was supposed to be must have been infected shortly thereafter. It's a reasonable supposition, but it isn't certain. You can make a case that Carpenter shows the shadow specifically to make a plot point (someone's going to be infected!), but it isn't necessarily so. The shadow moment can serve simply as a device to raise tension and to create an air of suspicion and worry in the mind of the viewer. Did the dog infect whoever that was? Maybe.
Interesting point ... By: KaitainCPS. on 06 Mar 10, 01:21:45 Interesting point about atheism. To be specific, it's not so much that it suggests a world without a deity, but it does as you say seem to exclude a world in which Cartesian dualism (substance dualism) applies. In other words, there is no separation of body and soul: your mind is purely a functional aspect of your physical body. But you could conceive of a world/universe in which a creator god exists but where the inhabitants of its created universe have no soul.
If only there had ... By: KaitainCPS. on 06 Mar 10, 01:17:35 If only there had been rats or mosquitoes around the base...the thing could have utilized those forms far more effectively than dogs and humans. Climate obviously precludes that, though. (Although what about fleas?)

One.....you don't ... By: AceofDlamonds. on 20 Feb 10, 02:29:21 One.....you don't ALWAYS have saliva touching the butt....second, saliva does not contain cells, just enzymes that actually inhibit cellular growth...................third, there was evidence that Palmer was the man in the room and no evidence it was Norris, and no evidence that Childs NEEDED be infected by Palmer. I can name other things, the dog didn't want to infect Clark because it was too early and studying it's environment first, could be same with Palmer-thing. Norris didn't want to lead

It doesn't matter ... By: Colt2571. on 20 Feb 10, 02:09:01 It doesn't matter what rooms people come out of...because Palmer was hanging out in Child's room at one point, and other men hung out in each other's room...the scene where the dog goes into the room with the shadow: it could have been anybody in that room, based on what I just said. And there were those tanks with the white things on them all in the hallway.

We see him smoking ... By: Colt2571. on 20 Feb 10, 02:03:07 We see him smoking the joint...it's in his mouth, a mouth has saliva in it no?, he then passes it to Childs...there is Palmer's saliva on the joint, Childs puts it in his mouth and smokes it...he now has Palmer's saliva in his mouth.

Colt2571...... ... By: AceofDlamonds. on 20 Feb 10, 01:53:31 Colt2571......theres no proof whatsoever that Palmer even dipped his saliva in the weed roll. Second, theres no proof saliva has any cells in them, just enzymes sure YOU MIGHT say the thing can secretly stick a few cells to the joint and pass it....but did the dog want to infect Clark when it had the chance? no.....Palmer didn't need to feel the need to infect or attack Childs YET.

A single game wouldn't be a good way to make comparisons between 2 players. Match play is a different story.

I beg your pardon, I meant to say Nc7+ forking king and rook since the queen would now be on f6 leaving c7 unprotected; not Nxd6. You'll have to excuse me, I was suffering with a terrible cold when I wrote this comment and my concentration wasn't functioning at its normal 10% efficiency.

why can't the queen recapture? - nxd6+ would just lose white his knight.
By: TehCube. on 28 Jan 10, 14:55:11
@fogfrogblog that's not true in any sport, whatsoever. If you beat someone/some team that is better than you, your ranking goes up by a notch, assuming the game is ranked. You can't just draw a game vs Anand and become a SuperGM, for example.
